Report: Deal has been made in principle that Chris Paul will be a Clipper (via TNT’s David Aldridge)
After countless talks over the past week, Donald Sterling and the Clippers caved and added both Eric Gordon and Minnesota’s 1st round pick to the trade table. New Orleans also gets 8th pick from the 2010 draft Al-Farouq Aminu and Chris Kaman whose contract expires at the end of the 2011-2012 season.
Eric Gordon had his best season in 2010-2011, who arguably played at All-Star level. He averaged 22.3 points on 45% shooting, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game for the Clippers last season. In addition, Minnesota’s draft pick is projected to be a high lottery pick, possibly in the Top 5 range. The 2012 NBA Draft is also slated to be one of the deepest drafts in recent history, giving New Orleans plenty to rebuild from.
The NBA has until the end of today, Wednesday December 14th, to agree to the terms of this trade, and then Chris Paul will officially be a Clipper.
